On books: "When it starts with, 'Once upon a time,' it means it's not true, but it's going to be a good story anyway."
On activities: "Grownups think that if you call something an 'activity' it's going to be fun. Like in Be-Bop with Aesop [the play that the 2nd graders perform], getting up on stage dressed up as a grasshopper in front of, like 85 people -- How is that supposed to be fun?"
On potentially performing in the 2nd grade play next year: "Let's try to make sure we're on vacation that week."
